time wasted?

Now is a great time to stop and pause. Capture and retain the feelings in the emotions that we are able to experience in this moment. Time is relative, and I believe that time is moving faster for most of us who are experiencing and participating in this contemporary world. At some point in human history before the mechanics of clocks, time was contingent on task completion and environmental cues. Although we have a large global consensus on the clock being the standard way to measure time, I do believe that in reality the human experience has a greater relationship with the duration it takes to a complete task and what we are able to perceive with our senses, that tells us more about time. That relationship blankets a large area of space, from the time it typically takes you to commute to work form home and vis versa to the time that you expect to receive a package that you ordered online. With both example being direct valuables in the equation of time. In this moment both of those values has changed significantly from a previous moment and has the compacity to change significantly in the next moment. If your still reading this, stick with me. I know how valuable time is and I appreciate you for valuing the time I took to wright this. If your like me and your daily commute to work has change in a relatively short amount of time, I’m sure that has significantly shifted your perspective on how much time you have in the day. If the time has increased, you’d feel like you have less time in the day. The day is moving fast, the week is moving faster. Or you could have an experience like similar to my girlfriend, where you moved closer to your place of work and now feel as the you have a little more time on your hands, now certain parts of the day feels slower paced. I think for a lot of people it the former experience and we feel as though we are losing time, with traffic increasing more packages being delivered occupying more space on the road for delivery vehicles. Leading to my next point. When I was a teenager and it was common to order things from a physical catalog as well as online. I feel as though the standard shipping time was 7 business days. That was the typical time to complete the task ordering something and then tangibly having it in your hands. Unless you pay for expedited shipping which is just buying time and that can be its own conversation in it of it self. In this moment its common to order something and it be tangible in 2 days, same day or even in a few hours. If you attribute time to be in relation to things in places, you can say that time is also moving fast on this axis as well. We have a new expectation to receive things much quicker than ever before. When it comes to consumerism we are surely impatient. We would largely accept a lesser quality product if we are able to receive it quicker. This does not just apply to delivery items but products and services that can be obtained in person. We have traded poor products and services for more time and called it convenience. What are we doing with this more time? You would think we would have more time for craftsmanship, artistic expression, and the time to admire and appreciate them both. This is simply a reminder to myself to take the time to do so.
